A Class schedule for Strange Times

There is a range of classes which you might like to join in.  Here is a schedule and description of the  classes. There are two on Monday, one on Tuesday and one on Friday

Monday 8.00am  An easy paced workout, a little HIIT, (8 seconds fast)followed by Chair exercises.

Monday 9.30am A more vigorous workout, more HIIT followed by exercises lying on the Yoga mat or a chair as an alternative.

Tuesday 9.00am A vigorous workout including lots more HIIT, 8 seconds fast, followed by exercises on the mat

Friday 8.50am  A very quiet class, composed of stretching, releasing, Yoga, Taichi, balancing and mindful relaxation

Note - Next week, as well, after each class I will schedule an additional, separate Have-a-chat meeting with your mics open.

With all classes, during the class no one will be able to see you. I can set it up that way.  I will be muting everyone's  mic. To remove the extraneous noises.

Remember to work at your own pace. Because I won't be in the room with you, I cannot supervise your exercise

Friday 9.00am A class with a Difference

Let's try a very quiet class, composed of stretching, releasing, Yoga, Taichi, balancing and mindful relaxation.  Ahhhh The class starts at 9.00am and time is strictly limited to 40 minutes by Zoom itself. I am sending out the invitation today by email. Leave a comment below if you want an invitation.  To help with time management, you might choose to warm up a little,by yourself prior to the class, for instance  by marching on the spot, or walk to the front door, and back, three times or similar gentle warm up.
T
This class is has a little of everything. We can start to learn a Tai Chi routine, do a bit of yoga, work on our balance, do some blissful release movements and stretches and finally quieten down our busy minds with a mindful relaxation. No running around.  Participants can do the entire class seated, if you wish. Just let me know.

What you may need:-
      - water to sip
     - a stout dining-type chair
     - a mat or towel, if you want to try the latter half of the class lying down (Optional)
     - a cord, band, tie or belt
     - a cushion, or towel roll, if needed, for your head, or under your knees
     - a small squishy ball about the size of a small rock melon or a small cushion or a ball           of rolled up socks

For this quiet class, you may choose to play your own quiet music in the background. We won't hear it

It is a good idea to log on to the meeting 5 minutes early so I'll see you 8.55am.  There is a waiting room I can put you in. Arriving early means that we can deal with any difficulties prior to the class starting. There is a waiting room I can put you in. You could do your warm up then

The class is on Zoom. So prior to the class, you will need to get the app or join Zoom and register yourself with email and a password. Be patient with Zoom, it is slow to join, but audio and visual quality of the classes are quite acceptable.

Let's see how it goes.

Another Pick-me-up

As Molly Meldrum says:-  "Do yourself a favour" and have a look at Bill Gates's new Ted Talk.  "How we must respond to.." to you know what.

Here is the link:-

Bill Gates Ted Talk - how we must respond. etc

It shows that he is a person who has half a brain, very well informed, who can talk to anyone on earth and has good intentions. Oh and did I mention the money he has?

It is really hopeful and worth a look.

All Set for Choir Singing

It is almost 10.00am.  I am tracking down Kim Kirkman's Facebook page.
Are you in.
He can't hear us....tee hee

Do you need a pick-me-up?

Do you need a pick-me-up?  Check out the cartoon, Bluey on ABC. It is a pure delight. I watched the "Grannies" episode where Bluey teaches nanna how to floss by skype.

Check out Bluey on this link:- https://iview.abc.net.au/show/bluey

The New York Times is recommending Bluey, among other things while people are stuck at home

"This Australian cartoon is geared toward preschoolers and is one of the sweetest — but not cloying — kid shows in ages. Bluey and her little sister, Bingo, have big imaginations, and luckily their parents love to join in on their games and adventures. The dialogue is loose and naturalistic, with a lot of genuine giggles, and the show has a happy playfulness that might be a temporary reprieve from cabin fever for children but could honestly be a welcome break for adults, too" New York Times, March 19th

Why not join our choir?

We have an exceptional choir master, Kim Kirkman.  He was the musical director of the Ten Tenors. His choir sessions are full of laughter and joy. As well, we learn about good singing techniques. I know that there are many Brisbane people who would love to be in the choir, but cannot because he is based on the Sunshine Coast.
He has figured out a way to put it online so why not join in.
Our choir sings on Thursday, but there is a Monday evening session, too. I am forwarding the email from Kim Kirkman, our maestro.  He has set up a virtual choir for us to join.  We can see and hear him, but he can't hear us.  Perfect.
You can access this through his Facebook page.  Of course, he will be charging for this.  It is his livelihood.
I hope you join in.  It will cheer you up.  Guaranteed.

Ann

Hi there Lovely Inspiration Choir Singer

I hope you are all doing very well.

This week I will be moving our choir online. So no physical choir until I let you know.

The online session will be on Thursdays from 10-11am. We will warm up, sing quite a few well known songs and learn some new pieces in two part harmony that you will be able to sing along with me.

All the materials will be available for your to download from my facebook page.

If you would like to support me during this time you can donate through PayPal. I'm suggesting the usual $10 per session. The link is here.

I'm also going to do a Monday night sing along session as well with a member of the Sunshine Coast musical community. I think that will be from 7-8pm each week.

You can access all of this through Facebook.

You will need to have a facebook account.
Find me on Facebook then send me a friend request
At the time of the session open facebook and find me again and you should see me streaming away.

I'm sorry to everyone who is disrupted by this turn of events. I think we are all feeling quite challenged. However, I hope we can find a way of still very much enjoying life during this time and I hope that singing with me will add a little ray of sunshine to your life.

All the best

Kim

A note about the blog page

Thanks for reading the blog.  I just know you are opening the chest right now as you read this. This week we are rotating the upper arms outwards.  This allows the neck to lengthen and the shoulders to relax, back and down. Ahh bliss

It has come to my attention, that if you are reading the blog on the small screen, you won't see the sidebar with"follow" button among other things.

It is not important. You will still see the content of each post.  I will be posting some good news in the next instalment

Habit of the Week, March, 2020

While "Habit of The Week" this week was  roll your thumbs outwards. Here is an interesting  modification.  Seek to turn your upper arms outwards.  This is a better suggestion because it means the shoulder's ball and socket joint would be externally  rotated. Yes!  It is a chest- opener.
Whereas, doing thumbs only,  you could cheat and not use  your shoulders at all.

Why not follow our blog, click on the blue "follow" button and feel free to make a comment.

Note.  I have had some feedback, that you don't see the follow button if you are reading this on a smaller screen.

Cool Weather = Movement

Hooray, 10 degrees cooler. it is the cool change.  Ideal for exercise.  So it is time to rev up the classes.

Back in the Saddle at Carina

I resume classes at Clem Jones Centre, Carina   -  Tuesday 12.00 noon. Thanks to Marg for holding the fort.  I have undertaken training in Tasmania, which I will be sharing with you over the coming months.

Meanwhile. BWS - balance, walking, squats, all the while keeping your "behind" behind you.

Posture course in Tasmania

I have completed a Posture Course in Tasmania.  I have learnt a lot, which I will share with you over the coming lessons. There is a lot to "unlearn" as well.

Meanwhile, remember keep your "behind" behind you, while sitting and standing.
